Cotton buyer; insurance business; mayor of Longview, Tex., 1904-16, 1918-20; defeated, 1920; candidate for Presidential Elector for Texas. Died in Longview, Gregg County, Tex., August 12, 1957 (age 83 years, 364 days). Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Longview, Tex.
  Relatives: Son of Mayer Bodenheim and Lena (Picard) Bodenheim; married to Willie Bass.
  Bodie Park, in Longview, Texas, is named for him.

  Robert Carl Bornefeld (1850-1924) — also known as Robert Bornefeld — of Galveston, Galveston County, Tex. Born in Bielefeld, Germany, January 22, 1850. Cotton factor; Honorary Consul for Japan in Galveston, Tex., 1898-1903; Honorary Consul for Venezuela in Galveston, Tex., 1900-03, 1916-23. German ancestry. Died, from chronic myocarditis, in Galveston, Galveston County, Tex., December 24, 1924 (age 74 years, 337 days). Cremated.
  Relatives: Son of Herman Otto Bornefeld and Luise (Printzen) Bornefeld; uncle of Herman Arthur Bornefeld.
  William J. Hutchins (1813-1884) — of Houston, Harris County, Tex. Born in Fishkill, Dutchess County, N.Y., March 3, 1813. Merchant; cotton mill business; hotel owner; banker; co-founded Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railway; owner and president of the Houston and Texas Central Railway; mayor of Houston, Tex., 1861. Episcopalian. English ancestry. Died in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Tex., June 4, 1884 (age 71 years, 93 days). Interment at Glenwood Cemetery, Houston, Tex.
  Relatives: Son of Israel B. Hutchins and Ruth (Rushmore) Hutchins; married, September 5, 1844, to Elvira Harris.

Baptist. Member, Freemasons; Shriners; Elks; Eagles; American Legion; Disabled American Veterans. Died in Bethesda, Montgomery County, Md., March 7, 1976 (age 82 years, 214 days). Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Texarkana, Tex.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
