Died in San Francisco, Calif., December 25, 1913 (age about 65 years). Interment at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, Calif.

  Spencer Pettis Gracey (1865-1933) — also known as Spencer P. Gracey — of Atlanta, Logan County, Ill.; Berkeley, Alameda County, Calif.; Hankow (now part of Wuhan), China. Born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., December 18, 1865. Opera singer; U.S. Vice Consul in Foochow, as of 1898; U.S. Consular Marshal in Foochow, as of 1898; worked for Standard Oil company in Japan and China; foreign exchange broker. Died, from peritonitis and heart failure, in International Hospital, Hankow (now part of Wuhan), China, January 15, 1933 (age 67 years, 28 days). Cremated.

Champaigne importer; Consul-General for Turkey in San Francisco, Calif., 1891-1907. Died in Lima, Peru, November 28, 1911 (age 48 years, 256 days). Burial location unknown.

  Rea Hanna (b. 1878) — of Hollywood, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Calif. Born in Aurora, Kane County, Ill., March 11, 1878. Musical instrument salesman; customhouse broker; U.S. Vice & Deputy Consul in Amoy, 1906-07; U.S. Consul in Iquique, 1907-11; Georgetown, 1913. Interment at Cementerio de Santa Inés, Viña del Mar, Chile.

  Carlos Barreno Lastreto (1867-1957) — also known as Carlos B. Lastreto; Charles B. Lastreto — of San Francisco, Calif.; Atherton, San Mateo County, Calif. Born in San Francisco, Calif., May 3, 1867. Coffee importer; Vice-Consul for Ecuador in San Francisco, Calif., 1901-02. Italian and French ancestry. Died, in St. Luke's Hospital, San Francisco, Calif., July 4, 1957 (age 90 years, 62 days). Entombed at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, Calif.

Unitarian. Died, of diphtheria, in San Francisco, Calif., October 30, 1875 (age 49 years, 80 days). Original interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery (which no longer exists), San Francisco, Calif.; reinterment at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, Calif.

  Francis Aaron Spencer (1865-1936) — also known as Frank A. Spencer — of Portland, Multnomah County, Ore. Born in San Francisco, Calif., January 24, 1865. Democrat. Commission merchant; importer; Consul for Mexico in Portland, Ore., 1895-1914; wholesale grocery manager; administrator, Oregon Liquor Control Commission, 1935; candidate for Presidential Elector for Oregon. Jumped from the high Vista Avenue Viaduct, and fell hundreds of feet to his death amid traffic on Canyon Road, in Portland, Multnomah County, Ore., December 22, 1936 (age 71 years, 333 days). His suicide note was quoted in news reports as follows: "Frankly, the pace has been too fast for me, and I cannot convince myself that I can make a comeback.". Interment at River View Cemetery, Portland, Ore.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
