Served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War; surveyor; member of Northwest Territory legislature, 1802; member of Ohio state house of representatives, 1803-04. Died in Deerfield, Hamilton County (now South Lebanon, Warren County), Ohio, April 22, 1809 (age 52 years, 153 days). Interment at Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon, Ohio.

  Oliver Hazard Perry Throck Morton (1823-1877) — also known as Oliver P. Morton — of Indianapolis, Marion County, Ind. Born in Salisbury, Wayne County, Ind., August 4, 1823. Republican. Circuit judge in Indiana, 1852; Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, 1861; Governor of Indiana, 1861-67; defeated, 1856; U.S. Senator from Indiana, 1867-77; died in office 1877; member of Republican National Committee from Indiana, 1872-; candidate for Republican nomination for President, 1876. His legs were paralyzed after a stroke in 1865; suffered another stroke in 1877, and died soon after, in Indianapolis, Marion County, Ind., November 1, 1877 (age 54 years, 89 days). Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Ind.; statue at Vicksburg National Military Park, Vicksburg, Miss.; statue at Statehouse Grounds, Indianapolis, Ind.

  John Franklin Kibbey (1826-1900) — also known as John F. Kibbey — of Indiana. Born in Richmond, Wayne County, Ind., May 4, 1826. Republican. Lawyer; Indiana state attorney general, 1862; colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War; district judge in Indiana 6th District, 1865-73; circuit judge in Indiana, 1873-85; candidate for justice of Indiana state supreme court, 1876, 1882. Presbyterian. Died in Richmond, Wayne County, Ind., October 10, 1900 (age 74 years, 159 days). Interment at Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.
  Relatives: Son of John Crane Kibbey and Mary (Espy) Kibbey; married, May 5, 1852, to Caroline E. Cunningham; father of Joseph Henry Kibbey; grandson of Ephraim Kibbey.

Postmaster at Falls City, Neb., 1858-61; Governor of Dakota Territory, 1869-73. Died in Richmond, Wayne County, Ind., December 19, 1905 (age 78 years, 149 days). Interment at Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.
  Relatives: Son of Isaac Burbank and Mary Elizabeth (Troxell) Burbank; brother of Lucinda Maria Burbank (who married Oliver Hazard Perry Throck Morton); married to Annie E. Yates and Sarah Parry; father of Nora Burbank (who married Joseph Henry Kibbey); uncle of John M. Morton.

Justice of Arizona territorial supreme court, 1889; member Arizona territorial council, 1902; Arizona territory attorney general, 1904-05; delegate to Republican National Convention from Arizona Territory, 1904; Governor of Arizona Territory, 1905-09; candidate for U.S. Senator from Arizona, 1916. Died in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Ariz., June 14, 1924 (age 71 years, 102 days). Interment at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Ariz.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
