  Dennison Rogers Burnham (1799-1876) — also known as Dennison R. Burnham — of Plymouth, Grafton County, N.H. Born in Rumney, Grafton County, N.H., January 2, 1799. Merchant; innkeeper; member of New Hampshire state house of representatives, 1856-58; member of New Hampshire Governor's Council, 1860-62. Died in 1876 (age about 77 years). Interment at Trinity Churchyard, Holderness, N.H.
  James Dwight Child (b. 1875) — also known as James D. Child — Born in Bath, Grafton County, N.H., May 12, 1875. Hotel steward; restauranteur; building supplies business; served in the U.S. Army during World War I; U.S. Vice Consul in Bordeaux, 1919-29; Strasbourg, 1929-32. Burial location unknown.
Joseph F. Glidden Joseph F. Glidden (b. 1813) — of DeKalb, DeKalb County, Ill. Born in Charlestown, Sullivan County, N.H., January 18, 1813. Democrat. Farmer; DeKalb County Sheriff, 1852; hotel proprietor; inventor of the barbed-wire fence; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Illinois, 1880, 1884; mayor of DeKalb, Ill., 1881-83. Member, Freemasons. Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Son of David Glidden and Polly (Hurd) Glidden; married 1837 to Clarissa Foster; married 1851 to Lucinda Warne.

  Charles Henry Greenleaf (1841-1924) — also known as Charles H. Greenleaf — of Franconia, Grafton County, N.H. Born in Danville, Caledonia County, Vt., July 23, 1841. Republican. Hotelier; delegate to Republican National Convention from New Hampshire, 1888; member of New Hampshire state house of representatives, 1895-96, 1901-02; member of New Hampshire state senate 2nd District, 1897-98; member of New Hampshire Governor's Council 5th District, 1905-06. Died in Pinehurst, Moore County, N.C., April 8, 1924 (age 82 years, 260 days). Interment at Trinity Churchyard, Holderness, N.H.
  Alfred Marshall (c.1797-1868) — of Maine. Born in New Hampshire, about 1797. Democrat. Member of Maine state house of representatives, 1827-28, 1834-35; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Maine, 1840; U.S. Representative from Maine 7th District, 1841-43; merchant; hotel business. Died in China, Kennebec County, Maine, October 2, 1868 (age about 71 years). Interment at Village Cemetery, China, Maine.

Hotel proprietor; delegate to Democratic National Convention from New Hampshire, 1924 (alternate), 1928, 1952 (alternate); candidate for New Hampshire state senate 2nd District, 1938; candidate for New Hampshire Governor's Council 1st District, 1940; treasurer of New Hampshire Democratic Party, 1945. Died in Whitefield, Coos County, N.H., August 28, 1967 (age 86 years, 179 days). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Son of Frank Seymour and Margaret Ann (O'Donnell) Seymour; married to Mary Eileen Monahan.
  Urban Andrain Woodbury (1838-1915) — also known as Urban A. Woodbury — of Burlington, Chittenden County, Vt. Born in Acworth, Sullivan County, N.H., July 11, 1838. Republican. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; wounded at the Battle of First Bull Run, and lost his right arm; lumber business; cotton manufacturer; hotel owner; mayor of Burlington, Vt., 1885-86; Lieutenant Governor of Vermont, 1888-90; Governor of Vermont, 1894-96. Congregationalist. Died in Burlington, Chittenden County, Vt., April 15, 1915 (age 76 years, 278 days). Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Burlington, Vt.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
