  Relatives: Son of Benjamin Bistline and Jane Elizabeth (Nesbitt) Bistline; brother of Joseph B. Bistline; married, October 17, 1889, to Martha Shellenberger; father of Francis Marion Bistline; grandfather of Beverly Barbara Bistline.

  Joseph B. Bistline (1862-1946) — also known as Joe Bistline — of Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho. Born in Andersonburg, Perry County, Pa., April 10, 1862. Democrat. Lawyer; lumber business; mayor of Pocatello, Idaho, 1899; in October 1913, the U.S. District Attorney for Idaho sued him for $8,000, the value of land fraudulently obtained from the government; after a trial in federal court, he was ordered to pay $600; this verdict was upheld on appeal. Died in Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho, October 31, 1946 (age 84 years, 204 days). Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, Idaho.

  William Malcolm Bunn (1842-1923) — also known as William M. Bunn — of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa. Born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., January 1, 1842. Republican. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; woodworker; member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives, 1868-70; delegate to Republican National Convention from Pennsylvania, 1872; newspaper editor; Governor of Idaho Territory, 1884-85. Died in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., September 19, 1923 (age 81 years, 261 days). Interment at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Pa.

Mine owner; lumber mill business; rancher and fruit grower; postmaster at Payette, Idaho, 1893-97; member of Idaho state senate, 1896; mayor of Payette, Idaho, 1897-99, 1900-01, 1907-11; defeated, 1911, 1915; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Idaho, 1916. Member, Odd Fellows; Freemasons. Died in Payette, Payette County, Idaho, January 4, 1936 (age 84 years, 298 days). Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Payette, Idaho.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
