Charles Clarke Chapman (1799-1869) — also known as Charles Chapman — of Hartford, Hartford County, Conn. Born in Newtown, Fairfield County, Conn., June 21, 1799. Whig. Lawyer; member of Connecticut state house of representatives from Hartford, 1840, 1847-48, 1862-64; U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, 1841-44; U.S. Representative from Connecticut 1st District, 1851-53; candidate for Governor of Connecticut, 1854. Died in Hartford, Hartford County, Conn., August 7, 1869 (age 70 years, 47 days). Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Conn.

Charles R. Chapman (1827-1897) — of Hartford, Hartford County, Conn. Born in Hartford, Hartford County, Conn., 1827. Democrat. Member of Connecticut state senate 1st District, 1857; mayor of Hartford, Conn., 1866-72; defeated, 1880, 1890; postmaster at Hartford, Conn., 1885-90. Died in 1897 (age about 70 years). Burial location unknown.
