Lawyer; Brooke County Prosecuting Attorney, 1908-12, 1916-21; U.S. Representative from West Virginia 1st District, 1933-39, 1941-43, 1949-53; defeated, 1938, 1942, 1954. Christian. Member, Odd Fellows. Died in Wheeling, Ohio County, W.Va., November 14, 1956 (age 79 years, 235 days). Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of John Ramsay and Elizabeth (Lunsdon) Ramsay; married, February 12, 1908, to Edna Brindley.

      Isaac Harding Duval (1824-1902) — also known as Isaac H. Duval — of Wellsburg, Brooke County, W.Va. Born in Wellsburg, Brooke County, Va. (now W.Va.), September 1, 1824. Republican. Went to California for the 1849 Gold Rush; general in the Union Army during the Civil War; member of West Virginia state senate 1st District, 1866-67; U.S. Representative from West Virginia 1st District, 1869-71; U.S. Collector of Internal Revenue for the 1st West Virginia District, 1879; member of West Virginia state house of delegates 1st District, 1887-90; alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from West Virginia, 1896. Died in Wellsburg, Brooke County, W.Va., July 10, 1902 (age 77 years, 312 days). Interment at Brooke Cemetery.

      Campbell Tarr (1819-1879) — of Brooke County, W.Va. Born in Wellsburg, Brooke County, Va. (now W.Va.), January 8, 1819. Republican. Delegate to Virginia secession convention from Brooke County, 1861; West Virginia state treasurer, 1863-67. Died in Kansas, December 22, 1879 (age 60 years, 348 days). Interment at Brooke Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of William Tarr and Mary (Perry) Tarr; married, January 24, 1848, to Mary Hammond; married, May 25, 1851, to Nancy Hammond; married 1864 to Mary (Slevin) Beninghaus.

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
