Line Railroad; was arrested
immediately and charged
with first-degree murder; at trial, he claimed the homicide was
justified by the "criminal intimacy" between O'Melveny and his wife,
while he was away in military service; the jury acquitted him in only
15 minutes.

County, Calif., September
28, 1953 (age 88 years, 152
days).
