Lawyer; member of South Dakota state senate 29th District, 1889-90; delegate to Republican National Convention from South Dakota, 1896 (member, Committee on Rules and Order of Business); South Dakota Republican state chair, 1912; circuit judge in South Dakota, 1912-17; judge of South Dakota state supreme court 3rd District, 1922-31. Methodist. Member, Freemasons; Knights Templar; Shriners; Odd Fellows; Knights of Pythias; Elks; Modern Woodmen of America; Ancient Order of United Workmen; Kiwanis. Died in Clark, Clark County, S.Dak., August 17, 1938 (age 83 years, 211 days).
