Physician; Consul for Salvador in San Francisco, Calif., 1895-96; Consul-General for Central America in San Francisco, Calif., 1897-98; Consul-General for Honduras in San Francisco, Calif., 1899-1901; Honorary Consul for Honduras in San Francisco, Calif., 1909-11. Died in San Francisco, Calif., August 25, 1920 (age about 60 years). Interment somewhere.
      Relatives: Married to Josefina de Los Monteros (marriage kept secret until his death).

      Beverly Leonidas Clarke (1809-1860) — also known as Beverly L. Clarke — of Franklin, Simpson County, Ky. Born in Winterfield, Chesterfield County, Va., February 11, 1809. Democrat. Member of Kentucky state house of representatives, 1841-42; U.S. Representative from Kentucky 2nd District, 1847-49; defeated, 1851; delegate to Kentucky state constitutional convention, 1849; candidate for Governor of Kentucky, 1855; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Kentucky, 1856; U.S. Minister to Guatemala, 1858-60, died in office 1860; Honduras, 1858-60, died in office 1860. Protestant; later Catholic. Died in Guatemala, March 17, 1860 (age 51 years, 35 days). Original interment somewhere; reinterment at Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Ky.
      Relatives: Married to Mariah Louise Clarke (1818-1847) and Zenobia Turner; father of Pauline Clarke (1837-1876; who married John Singleton Mosby (1833-1916)).
