      Orland Steen Loomis (1893-1942) — also known as Orland S. Loomis — of Wisconsin. Born in Mauston, Juneau County, Wis., November 12, 1893. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; lawyer; member of Wisconsin state assembly, 1929-30; member of Wisconsin state senate 31st District, 1931-34; Wisconsin director, U.S. Rural Electrification Administration, 1935-37; Wisconsin state attorney general, 1937-39; Progressive candidate for Governor of Wisconsin, 1940. Died, from a heart attack, December 7, 1942 (age 49 years, 25 days). Interment somewhere.
      Relatives: Married, June 22, 1918, to Florence Marie Ely.

Member of Wisconsin state senate, 1857-58, 1861-62, 1882-83; member of Wisconsin state assembly, 1874, 1880-81; candidate for Presidential Elector for Wisconsin. Died in Necedah, Juneau County, Wis., March 26, 1899 (age 80 years, 54 days). Interment at Bay View Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Paul Kingston; married to Hannah Dawes; father of John Tabor Kingston Jr..

      John Tabor Kingston Jr. (1860-1898) — also known as John T. Kingston, Jr. — of Ashland, Ashland County, Wis. Born in Necedah, Juneau County, Wis., January 4, 1860. Democrat. Lawyer; member of Wisconsin state senate, 1891-93; postmaster at Ashland, Wis., 1893-97. Volunteered for military service in the Spanish-American War, and died, from peritonitis, in Coamo, Coamo Municipio, Puerto Rico, August 26, 1898 (age 38 years, 234 days). Interment at Bay View Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of John Tabor Kingston and Hannah (Dawes) Kingston.

    The Political Graveyard

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
      The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
