      Thaddeus Franklin Daniel (1900-1942) — also known as T. Franklin Daniel — of Lynchburg, Va. Born in Brunswick County, Va., February 25, 1900. Democrat. Member of Virginia state house of delegates from Lynchburg city, 1934-42; died in office 1942. Methodist. Member, Phi Beta Kappa; Tau Kappa Alpha. Shot and killed, along with Lynchburg city attorney T. G. Hobbs, by Warren Guy Myers, in his office, in Lynchburg, Va., June 30, 1942 (age 42 years, 125 days). Myers was judged to be insane, committed to the Southwestern State Hospital, and died in 1963. Interment at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Lee Andrew Daniel and Susan (Pritchett) Daniel.

Lawyer; member of Virginia state house of delegates, 1806-09; U.S. Representative from Virginia, 1808, 1809-16 (17th District 1808, 1809-15, 18th District 1815-16); died in office 1816; served in the U.S. Army during the War of 1812. Slaveowner. Died from war wounds, in Brunswick County, Va., July 4, 1816. Interment at Gholson Family Cemetery.
      Relatives: Uncle and father-in-law of Thomas Saunders Gholson; uncle of James Herbert Gholson; second cousin of Richard Dickerson Gholson.

Slaveowner. Died in Brunswick County, Va., 1812 (age about 63 years). Interment at Claiborne Family Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Augustine Claiborne and Hannah (Ravenscroft) Claiborne; married, January 19, 1772, to Mary Clayton; father of John Claiborne and Thomas Claiborne (1780-1856); first cousin once removed of Ferdinand Leigh Claiborne, William Charles Cole Claiborne and Nathaniel Herbert Claiborne; first cousin twice removed of John Francis Hamtramck Claiborne; first cousin five times removed of Herbert Claiborne Pell Jr. and Corinne Claiborne Boggs; first cousin six times removed of Claiborne de Borda Pell, Barbara Boggs Sigmund and Thomas Hale Boggs Jr.; second cousin four times removed of Andrew Fuller Fox.

Episcopalian. Member, Freemasons. Died in 1920 (age about 70 years). Interment at Lawrenceville Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Edward Randolph Turnbull and Elizabeth (Harrison) Turnbull; married, December 17, 1874, to Mary L. Harrison.

Episcopalian. Member, American Bar Association. Died January 23, 1995 (age 88 years, 12 days). Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Albertis S. Harrison and Lizzie (Goodrich) Harrison; married, May 8, 1930, to Lacey Virginia Barkley.

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
