Presbyterian. Member, American Bar Association; Order of the Coif; Sigma Nu; Phi Alpha Delta; Phi Kappa Phi; Freemasons; Shriners; Elks. Died, following a heart attack, at Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital, Knoxville, Knox County, Tenn., January 7, 1964 (age 61 years, 360 days). Interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Alcoa, Tenn.

  Samuel Taylor Beare (1901-1971) — of Jackson, Madison County, Tenn.; Memphis, Shelby County, Tenn. Born in Humboldt, Gibson County, Tenn., October 18, 1901. Lawyer; coal and ice dealer; member of Tennessee state house of representatives, 1935-37. Episcopalian. Member, American Bar Association; Freemasons; American Legion; Sigma Nu. Died September 21, 1971 (age 69 years, 338 days). Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Humboldt, Tenn.
  Relatives: Son of Samuel Taylor Beare and Evelyn Nelson (Hunt) Beare; married 1925 to Evelyn Weatherby; married, October 16, 1942, to Betty Carl Booth.

  William Earl DeCourcy (1894-1981) — also known as William E. DeCourcy — of Texas. Born in Jackson, Madison County, Tenn., February 4, 1894. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; Foreign Service officer; U.S. Vice Consul in Geneva, 1923-24; Cairo, 1924-26; Marseille, 1926-28; U.S. Consul in Paris, 1928-34; Cape Town, 1935-36; Naples, 1937-40; U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, 1948-50. Member, Sigma Nu. Died in 1981 (age about 87 years). Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
