  John William Armstrong (1854-1950) — also known as John W. Armstrong — of South Auburn (now part of Auburn), Nemaha County, Neb. Born in Des Moines County, Iowa, November 15, 1854. Farmer; hardware and furniture business; funeral director; member of Nebraska state house of representatives, 1899-1901, 1907, 1921. Methodist. Died in 1950 (age about 95 years). Interment at Sheridan Cemetery, Auburn, Neb.
  Relatives: Son of Thomas Douden Armstrong and Eve (McDonald) Armstrong; married, February 10, 1876, to Julia Stevens.

  James J. Dworak (b. 1935) — of Omaha, Douglas County, Neb. Born January 4, 1935. Democrat. Undertaker; mayor of Omaha, Neb., 1961-65; defeated, 1965; indicted on December 16, 1964, on charges of seeking thousands of dollars in bribes in connection with a rezoning request; tried in 1966 and acquitted. Still living as of 1997.
  Carl Gustave Palm (1885-1934) — also known as Carl G. Palm — of Oceanside, San Diego County, Calif.; Escondido, San Diego County, Calif. Born in Omaha, Douglas County, Neb., June 16, 1885. Undertaker; mayor of Escondido, Calif., 1934; died in office 1934. Swedish ancestry. Member, Elks; Odd Fellows; Kiwanis; Optimist Club. Died, from heart disease, in Escondido Community Hospital, Escondido, San Diego County, Calif., July 1, 1934 (age 49 years, 15 days). Interment at Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, Calif.
  Relatives: Son of Jonas Petter Carlsson Palm and Christina Louisa Matilda (Sundberg) Palm; married, October 19, 1905, to Maude Vola Carmony; married, September 3, 1910, to Ellen A. Larson; married, October 29, 1913, to Cora Albina Channel.

  Kenneth Spicer Wherry (1892-1951) — also known as Kenneth S. Wherry — of Pawnee City, Pawnee County, Neb. Born in Liberty, Gage County, Neb., February 28, 1892. Republican. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War I; furniture merchant; funeral director; automobile dealer; member of Nebraska state senate, 1929-31; Nebraska Republican state chair, 1939-42; U.S. Senator from Nebraska, 1943-51; died in office 1951; speaker, Republican National Convention, 1948. Presbyterian. Member, American Bar Association; American Legion; Freemasons; Shriners; Lions; Kiwanis; Beta Theta Pi. Died in Washington, D.C., November 29, 1951 (age 59 years, 274 days). Interment at Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Neb.
  Relatives: Son of David Emery Wherry and Jessie (Comstock) Wherry; married, September 15, 1920, to Marjorie Colwell.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
