Lawyer; member of Minnesota state senate 15th District, 1923-36; died in office 1936; delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1924, 1928; member of Republican National Committee from Minnesota, 1928. Scottish ancestry. Died in Ramsey County, Minn., April 11, 1936 (age 52 years, 143 days). Interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of George Allison MacKenzie Sr. and Alice (Oblinger) MacKenzie; married to Ruth Jean Wheelock.

      William Henry Wescott (1870-1939) — also known as William H. Wescott — Born in Eagan, Dakota County, Minn., April 5, 1870. Republican. Farmer; member of Minnesota state house of representatives 30th District, 1907-14; candidate for Presidential Elector for Minnesota; delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1920. Died in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minn., June 2, 1939 (age 69 years, 58 days). Interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of James Wescott and Mary E. (Atkinson) Wescott; married to Ethelyn Genevieve Mackenzie.

      George Allison MacKenzie Sr. (1857-1948) — Born in Roscoe, Winnebago County, Ill., March 14, 1857. Member of Minnesota state house of representatives District 21, 1905-06, 1909-12. Died in Sibley County, Minn., September 23, 1948 (age 91 years, 193 days). Interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
      Relatives: Married to Martha Alice Oblinger; father of Claude Hillel MacKenzie.

      Joseph Renshaw Brown (1805-1870) — also known as Joseph R. Brown — of Wisconsin; Minnesota. Born January 11, 1805. Member of Wisconsin territorial legislature, 1840-42; member Minnesota territorial council 6th District, 1854-55; member of Minnesota territorial House of Representatives 10th District, 1857; delegate to Minnesota state constitutional convention 10th District, 1857. Died in New York, 1870 (age about 65 years). Interment at Brown Cemetery.
      Brown County, Minn. is named for him.

Died in Henderson, Sibley County, Minn., July 18, 1912 (age 78 years, 331 days). Interment at Major James R. Browne's Cemetery.

    The Political Graveyard

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
      The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
