Dairy farmer; Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, 1945-49; delegate to Democratic National Convention from North Carolina, 1948; North Carolina commissioner of agriculture, 1949-64; died in office 1964. Died in White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier County, W.Va., July 19, 1964 (age 65 years, 104 days). Interment at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina, N.C.

Dan W. Mouse Dan W. Mouse (b. 1897) — also known as D. W. Mouse — of Petersburg, Grant County, W.Va. Born in Grant County, W.Va., January 1, 1897. Republican. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; plasterer; dairy farmer; member of West Virginia state house of delegates from Grant County, 1949-52. United Brethren. Member, Farm Bureau; American Legion. Burial location unknown.

  Hu Swisher Vandervort (1886-1971) — also known as H. S. Vandervort — of Monongalia County, W.Va. Born near Morgantown, Monongalia County, W.Va., July 23, 1886. Republican. County agricultural extension agent; president and general manager, Sanitary Milk and Ice Cream Company; member of West Virginia state house of delegates from Monongalia County, 1927-32; bank director; member, Board of Directors, Monongalia General Hospital, 1943-71. Methodist. Member, Grange; Freemasons; Shriners; Odd Fellows; Kiwanis; Kappa Alpha Order. Died in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Fla., February 28, 1971 (age 84 years, 220 days). Interment at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, W.Va.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
