Physician; druggist; Torrance County Treasurer, 1912; Torrance County Health Officer, 1931; member of New Mexico Republican State Committee, 1934; alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from New Mexico, 1936; member of New Mexico state house of representatives; elected 1938. Lutheran. Norwegian ancestry. Member, Knights of Pythias; Modern Woodmen of America. Died in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, N.M., January 30, 1947 (age about 72 years). Burial location unknown.
  Holm Olaf Bursum (1867-1953) — also known as Holm O. Bursum — of Socorro, Socorro County, N.M. Born in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa, February 10, 1867. Republican. Member of New Mexico territorial senate, 1899-1900; delegate to Republican National Convention from New Mexico Territory, 1904, 1908; delegate to New Mexico state constitutional convention, 1910; delegate to Republican National Convention from New Mexico, 1912, 1928 (speaker), 1944; member of Republican National Committee from New Mexico, 1920-24; U.S. Senator from New Mexico, 1921-25; defeated, 1924. Norwegian ancestry. Died in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colo., August 7, 1953 (age 86 years, 178 days). Interment at Socorro Cemetery, Socorro, N.M.
  Relatives: Son of Frank O. Bursum and Marie (Hilton) Bursum; married, August 3, 1898, to Lula Mae Moore; father of Holm Otto Bursum.

Norwegian ancestry. Died in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, N.M., October 6, 1969 (age 76 years, 194 days). Interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.M.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
