U.S. Representative from Minnesota at-large, 1933-35; defeated (Farmer-Labor), 1930 (3rd District), 1942 (7th District). Died in 1958 (age about 69 years). Interment at Zion Cemetery.

      Henry Bordewich (1844-1912) — of Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine County, Minn. Born in Vaagan, Norway, January 19, 1844. Republican. Naturalized U.S. citizen; served in the Union Navy during the Civil War; Yellow Medicine County Auditor, 1874-88; candidate for Minnesota state treasurer, 1884; postmaster; U.S. Consul in Christiania, 1897-1900; U.S. Consul General in Christiania, 1900-12, died in office 1912. Norwegian ancestry. Member, Freemasons. Died in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway, March 19, 1912 (age 68 years, 60 days). Interment at Olivia Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of John P. Bordewich and Leonharde (Linkhausen) Bordewich; married 1869 to Bergithe Severinson.

      Darwin Scott Hall (1844-1919) — of Buffalo Lake, Renville County, Minn. Born in Mound Prairie, Kenosha County, Wis., January 23, 1844. Republican. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; member of Minnesota state house of representatives District 34, 1876; member of Minnesota state senate, 1887-89, 1907-10 (47th District 1887-89, 22nd District 1907-10); U.S. Representative from Minnesota 3rd District, 1889-91; defeated, 1890; delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1892. Died in Olivia, Renville County, Minn., February 23, 1919 (age 75 years, 31 days). Interment at Olivia Cemetery.

    The Political Graveyard

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
