Importer; U.S. Consul in Nice, 1889-93; Tunstall, 1897-1903; Manchester, 1903-05, 1906-07; U.S. Consul General in Manchester, 1905-06; Montreal, 1907-17. Died in Manhattan, New York County, N.Y., September 17, 1929 (age 81 years, 106 days). Interment at Titicus Cemetery, Ridgefield, Conn.
  Relatives: Son of William Henry Bradley and Idea Sophronia (Strong) Bradley; married, September 24, 1873, to Mary Capen Gray; married, November 13, 1883, to Carolina Lawson.

  Spencer Pettis Gracey (1865-1933) — also known as Spencer P. Gracey — of Atlanta, Logan County, Ill.; Berkeley, Alameda County, Calif.; Hankow (now part of Wuhan), China. Born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., December 18, 1865. Opera singer; U.S. Vice Consul in Foochow, as of 1898; U.S. Consular Marshal in Foochow, as of 1898; worked for Standard Oil company in Japan and China; foreign exchange broker. Died, from peritonitis and heart failure, in International Hospital, Hankow (now part of Wuhan), China, January 15, 1933 (age 67 years, 28 days). Cremated.
  Relatives: Son of Samuel Levis Gracey and Leonora (Thompson) Gracey; brother of Wilbur Tirrell Gracey; married to Pearl Miller.
  Political family: Gracey family of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  Rea Hanna (b. 1878) — of Hollywood, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Calif. Born in Aurora, Kane County, Ill., March 11, 1878. Musical instrument salesman; customhouse broker; U.S. Vice & Deputy Consul in Amoy, 1906-07; U.S. Consul in Iquique, 1907-11; Georgetown, 1913. Interment at Cementerio de Santa Inés, Viña del Mar, Chile.
  Relatives: Son of George Hanna and Julia (Mandigo) Hanna.
  Gaylord Clarke Whipple (1894-1970) — also known as Gaylord C. Whipple — of Chicago, Cook County, Ill. Born in Chicago, Cook County, Ill., October 29, 1894. Exporter; Honorary Vice-Consul for Estonia in Chicago, Ill., 1935. Died in 1970 (age about 75 years). Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, Ill.
  Relatives: Son of Ira Hugh Whipple and Ida May Whipple.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
