Coshocton County Auditor, 1821-38; member of Ohio state house of representatives, 1838-40; Coshocton County Clerk, 1843-51; candidate for Presidential Elector for Ohio; U.S. Representative from Ohio 15th District, 1857-59; druggist; probate judge in Ohio, 1870. Died in Coshocton, Coshocton County, Ohio, May 12, 1875 (age 75 years, 62 days). Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Coshocton, Ohio.
  Relatives: Father of William Wallace Burns.

  Julian Baker Chipley (1895-1957) — also known as Julian Chipley — of Moorefield, Hardy County, W.Va. Born in Hardy County, W.Va., November 6, 1895. Democrat. Pharmacist; chair of Hardy County Democratic Party, 1945. Died in Harrisonburg, Va., March 28, 1957 (age 61 years, 142 days). Interment at Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, W.Va.
  Relatives: Son of John Dixon Chipley and Elizabeth (Baker) Chipley; married, April 18, 1918, to Emma C. Cunningham.

  Robert Newton Harper (b. 1861) — also known as Robert N. Harper — of Washington, D.C. Born near Leesburg, Loudoun County, Va., January 31, 1861. Democrat. Druggist; banker; delegate to Democratic National Convention from District of Columbia, 1920. Burial location unknown.
  William Miller McCreary (1837-1916) — of Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa. Born in Brooke County, Va. (now W.Va.), October 13, 1837. Democrat. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; druggist; member of Iowa state house of representatives, 1904-06. Methodist. Member, Odd Fellows. Died in Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa, November 6, 1916 (age 79 years, 24 days). Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Centerville, Iowa.
  Alfred W. Taliaferro (d. 1885) — of San Rafael, Marin County, Calif. Born in Gloucester County, Va. Physician; druggist; member of California state assembly 19th District, 1852-53; member of California state senate, 1860. Died, of pneumonia, 1885. Interment at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael, Calif.
  Epitaph: "His virtue was generosity, his friends are legion, his enemies none — one of nature's noblemen."
  Silas F. Taylor — of Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. Born in Danville, Va. Democrat. Druggist; member of Massachusetts Democratic State Committee, 1928-48; candidate for Presidential Elector for Massachusetts; alternate delegate to Democratic National Convention from Massachusetts, 1944, 1948, 1952, 1956. Baptist. African ancestry. Member, Alpha Phi Alpha; Elks; Freemasons; Shriners. Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
