Engineer; business executive; candidate for delegate to New York state constitutional convention at-large, 1966; candidate for U.S. Representative from New York, 1968 (34th District), 1974 (33rd District). Died in Cortlandt town, Westchester County, N.Y., August 23, 1996 (age 81 years, 161 days). Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Otisfield, Maine.

  John Henry Farrington (1863-1909) — also known as John H. Farrington — of Punta Gorda, De Soto County (now Charlotte County), Fla. Born in Waldoboro, Lincoln County, Maine, November 7, 1863. Private secretary to Sherman Conant, general manager, Florida Southern Railway; orange grower; banker; Vice-Consul for Great Britain in Punta Gorda, Fla., 1896-98; deputy collector of customs. Died in Punta Gorda, De Soto County (now Charlotte County), Fla., January 8, 1909 (age 45 years, 62 days). Interment at Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, Ga.

  Henry Prince Starrett (b. 1885) — also known as Henry P. Starrett — of Thomaston, Knox County, Maine; Dade City, Pasco County, Fla. Born in Boston, Suffolk County, Mass., December 14, 1885. Stenographer; U.S. Deputy Consul General in Havana, 1907-11; U.S. Consul in Cartagena, as of 1914; Fort William, as of 1916; Port Arthur, as of 1916; Mombasa, as of 1917; Adelaide, as of 1919-20; Batavia, as of 1922; Belfast, 1923-26; U.S. Consul General in Genoa, as of 1929. Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
