Member, Elks; Friendly Sons of St. Patrick; Sigma Nu. Died in Washington, D.C., August 3, 1951 (age 73 years, 255 days). Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md.
  Relatives: Son of Joseph Bland and Arminda (Shipman) Bland; married, June 18, 1902, to Josephine Hanna.

  William Sterling Cole (1904-1987) — also known as W. Sterling Cole — of Bath, Steuben County, N.Y. Born in Painted Post, Steuben County, N.Y., April 18, 1904. Republican. Lawyer; U.S. Representative from New York, 1935-57 (37th District 1935-45, 39th District 1945-53, 37th District 1953-57). Presbyterian. Member, Sigma Nu; Phi Beta Kappa; Pi Delta Epsilon; Delta Sigma Rho; Freemasons. Died in Washington, D.C., March 15, 1987 (age 82 years, 331 days). Interment somewhere in Bath, N.Y.

  Tracy Hollingsworth Lay (b. 1882) — also known as Tracy Lay — of Montgomery, Montgomery County, Ala.; Birmingham, Jefferson County, Ala.; Gadsden, Etowah County, Ala.; Washington, D.C. Born in Gadsden, Etowah County, Ala., November 5, 1882. Newspaper reporter; department store manager; U.S. Deputy Consul General in London, 1912-14; U.S. Vice & Deputy Consul in Dublin, 1914; U.S. Vice & Deputy Consul General in Paris, 1914-15; U.S. Consul in Paris, 1915-19; U.S. Consul General in Munich, 1923-25; Buenos Aires, 1926-28. Methodist. Member, American Political Science Association; American Economic Association; Sigma Nu. Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
