      Davis Hanson Waite (1825-1901) — also known as Davis H. Waite; "Bloody Bridles" — of Princeton, Green Lake County, Wis.; Jamestown, Chautauqua County, N.Y.; Larned, Pawnee County, Kan.; Aspen, Pitkin County, Colo. Born in Jamestown, Chautauqua County, N.Y., April 9, 1825. Republican. Member of Wisconsin state assembly, 1857; member of Kansas state legislature, 1879; Governor of Colorado, 1893-95. Died in Aspen, Pitkin County, Colo., November 27, 1901 (age 76 years, 232 days). Interment at Red Butte Cemetery.
      Relatives: Son of Olive (Davis) Waite (1786-1851) and Joseph Waite (1787-1855); married to Frances Eliza Russell (1836-1880); married, January 8, 1885, to Celia O. (Crane) Maltby (1845-1937).
