Lawyer; candidate for Alabama state house of representatives 17th District, 1990; delegate to Republican National Convention from Alabama, 1992, 2008 (alternate); municipal judge in Alabama, 1992-95; U.S. Representative from Alabama 4th District, 1997-. Congregationalist; later Methodist. Still living as of 2018.

  Nathan Howard Alexander (1854-1915) — also known as Nathan H. Alexander — of Montgomery, Montgomery County, Ala. Born in Alabama, August 22, 1854. Republican. Druggist; receiver of U.S. Land Office at Montgomery, Alabama, 1891, 1903-07; delegate to Republican National Convention from Alabama, 1896 (member, Credentials Committee), 1900 (alternate), 1904 (member, Credentials Committee), 1908; Republican candidate for Presidential Elector for Alabama, 1896; register of U.S. Land Office at Montgomery, Alabama, 1909. Congregationalist. African ancestry. Died in Montgomery County, Ala., September 24, 1915 (age 61 years, 33 days). Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Ala.
  Relatives: Son of Isaac Alexander and Georgia (Ashby) Alexander; married, December 21, 1882, to Victoria D. Shaw; married, December 24, 1902, to Anna Morgan.

  Oscar Stanton De Priest (1871-1951) — also known as Oscar De Priest — of Chicago, Cook County, Ill. Born in Florence, Lauderdale County, Ala., March 9, 1871. Republican. Painter; real estate broker; Cook County Commissioner, 1894-1904; delegate to Republican National Convention from Illinois, 1908 (alternate), 1920, 1924 (alternate), 1928, 1932, 1936; U.S. Representative from Illinois 1st District, 1929-35; defeated, 1934, 1936, 1938. Congregationalist or Presbyterian. African ancestry. Member, Elks; Freemasons; Odd Fellows. Died in Chicago, Cook County, Ill., May 12, 1951 (age 80 years, 64 days). Interment at Graceland Cemetery, Chicago, Ill.
  Relatives: Son of Alexander R. De Priest and Mary (Karsner) De Priest; married, February 23, 1898, to Jessie Williams.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 338,260 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
