  Adam Mattice (1792-1868) — also known as "Black Adam" — of Livingstonville, Schoharie County, N.Y. Born in Blenheim, Schoharie County, N.Y., June 6, 1792. Member of New York state assembly from Schoharie County 1st District, 1848. Died January 10, 1868 (age 75 years, 218 days). Interment at Livingstonville Cemetery, Livingstonville, N.Y.
  Relatives: Son of Johannes H. Mattice and Gertrude (Vrooman) Mattice; married 1813 to Nancy Winans; father of Manly Burr Mattice; second cousin of Martinus F. Mattice; second cousin twice removed of Burr Mattice; second cousin thrice removed of Warner Bryce Mattice.

  Manly Burr Mattice (1827-1894) — also known as Manly B. Mattice — of Durham, Greene County, N.Y.; Catskill, Greene County, N.Y. Born December 29, 1827. Democrat. Member of New York state assembly from Greene County 2nd District, 1856; delegate to Democratic National Convention from New York, 1864, 1880, 1888. Died December 25, 1894 (age 66 years, 361 days). Interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Durham, N.Y.; cenotaph at Town of Catskill Cemetery, Catskill, N.Y.

Lawyer; Otsego County District Attorney, 1893; Justice of New York Supreme Court 6th District, 1897-1903; delegate to Republican National Convention from New York, 1900. Member, Freemasons; Royal Arch Masons. Died in Oneonta, Otsego County, N.Y., November 9, 1903 (age 47 years, 122 days). Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
