  Benjamin F. Dyer Jr. (1821-1914) — of Virginia. Born in Henry County, Va., December 21, 1821. Member of Virginia state house of delegates, 1876-79. Died March 11, 1914 (age 92 years, 80 days). Interment at Carroll United Methodist Church Cemetery, Axton, Va.

  David Patterson Dyer (1838-1924) — also known as David P. Dyer — of St. Louis, Mo. Born in Henry County, Va., February 12, 1838. Republican. Lawyer; delegate to Republican National Convention from Missouri, 1868 (member, Credentials Committee), 1888, 1900; U.S. Representative from Missouri 9th District, 1869-71; defeated (Liberal Republican), 1870; candidate for Governor of Missouri, 1880; U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, 1902-07; U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, 1907. Died in St. Louis, Mo., April 29, 1924 (age 86 years, 77 days). Interment at Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.

Leonidas C. Dyer Leonidas Carstarphen Dyer (1871-1957) — also known as Leonidas C. Dyer — of St. Louis, Mo. Born near Warrenton, Warren County, Mo., June 11, 1871. Republican. Lawyer; served in the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War; U.S. Representative from Missouri 12th District, 1911-14, 1915-33; defeated, 1932 (at-large), 1934 (11th District), 1936 (11th District), 1942 (11th District); delegate to Republican National Convention from Missouri, 1916, 1920, 1928 (member, Committee on Rules and Order of Business). Member, United Spanish War Veterans. Died in St. Louis, Mo., December 15, 1957 (age 86 years, 187 days). Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bel-Nor, Mo.
  Relatives: Son of James Coleman Dyer and Martha E. (Camp) Dyer; nephew of David Patterson Dyer; relative *** of Otis M. Dyer.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
