  Harvey Walker Harmer (1865-1961) — also known as Harvey W. Harmer — of Clarksburg, Harrison County, W.Va. Born in Shinnston, Harrison County, W.Va., July 25, 1865. Republican. Lawyer; member of West Virginia state house of delegates from Harrison County, 1895-96, 1929-30, 1943-48; defeated, 1940; appointed 1943; defeated, 1948; member of West Virginia state senate, 1901-04, 1919-22 (3rd District 1901-02, 12th District 1903-04, 1919-22); mayor of Clarksburg, W.Va., 1906-07. Methodist. Member, Odd Fellows. Died in Clarksburg, Harrison County, W.Va., November 21, 1961 (age 96 years, 119 days). Interment at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston, W.Va.
  Relatives: Son of Benjamin Tyson Harmer and Margaret Jane (Shepler) Harmer; married 1901 to Nellie Britner Marten; married 1926 to Florence Warden Stemple; uncle of Hardin Roads Harmer.

  Hardin Roads Harmer (1899-1963) — also known as Hardin R. Harmer — of Shinnston, Harrison County, W.Va.; Clarksburg, Harrison County, W.Va. Born in Shinnston, Harrison County, W.Va., July 12, 1899. Republican. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; lawyer; member of West Virginia Republican State Executive Committee, 1940-44; member of West Virginia state senate 13th District, 1943-48; resigned 1948; delegate to Republican National Convention from West Virginia, 1944, 1952, 1956 (member, Committee on Rules and Order of Business), 1960 (alternate). Methodist. Member, Elks; Odd Fellows; Moose; Beta Theta Pi; Phi Alpha Delta; American Legion. Died May 24, 1963 (age 63 years, 316 days). Interment at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston, W.Va.
  Relatives: Son of Charles Leslie Harmer and Minnie (Swiger) Harmer; nephew of Harvey Walker Harmer; fourth cousin once removed of Agnes Freeland.

  Carl Wilford Freeland (1914-1978) — also known as Carl W. Freeland; Carl Wilford Main — of Middlebourne, Tyler County, W.Va. Born in West Virginia, 1914. Democrat. Chair of Tyler County Democratic Party, 1961-63. Died in April, 1978 (age about 63 years). Interment at Beechwood Cemetery, Centerville, W.Va.

  Agnes Freeland (1916-2008) — also known as Agnes Pearl Albright — of Middlebourne, Tyler County, W.Va. Born in Tyler County, W.Va., January 5, 1916. Democrat. Chair of Tyler County Democratic Party, 1969. Female. Died in Winchester, Clark County, Ky., April 13, 2008 (age 92 years, 99 days). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Daughter of Isaiah Decar Freeland and Laura Catherine (Carroll) Freeland; married to Carl Wilford Freeland; fourth cousin once removed of Hardin Roads Harmer.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
