Smith Vawter (1806-1882) — of Indiana. Born in Scott County, Ky., November 3, 1806. Republican. Member of Indiana state house of representatives, 1848-49, 1857, 1879-81; candidate for Indiana state senate, 1851; alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from Indiana, 1868. Disciples of Christ. Died in Vernon, Jennings County, Ind., April 10, 1882 (age 75 years, 158 days). Burial location unknown.

David G. Vawter (1824-1884) — of Indiana. Born in Vernon, Jennings County, Ind., February 18, 1824. Democrat. Member of Indiana state house of representatives, 1867; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Indiana, 1868, 1880. Member, Freemasons; Odd Fellows. Died in Franklin, Johnson County, Ind., May 24, 1884 (age 60 years, 96 days). Burial location unknown.
