  Relatives: Son of Walter Hughes Bennet (1875-1960) and Grace Agatha Downes Bennet (1880-1967); married 1934 to Phoebe Benedict (1911-1976); father of Douglas Joseph Bennet; grandfather of Michael Farrand Bennet (1964-).

Candidate in primary for U.S. Representative from Connecticut 2nd District, 1974; president and CEO of National Public Radio, 1983-93; president, Wesleyan University, 1995-2007. Died June 10, 2018 (age 79 years, 352 days). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Son of Phoebe (Benedict) Bennet (1911-1976) and Douglas Joseph Bennet; father of Michael Farrand Bennet (1964-).
