  James Fisk (1763-1844) — of Barre, Washington County, Vt.; Swanton, Franklin County, Vt. Born in Greenwich (now part of Quabbin Reservoir), Hampshire County, Mass., October 4, 1763. Democrat. Member of Massachusetts state legislature, 1785; member of Vermont state house of representatives, 1800; U.S. Representative from Vermont, 1805-09, 1811-15 (3rd District 1805-09, 1811-13, at-large 1813-15); justice of Vermont state supreme court, 1815-16; U.S. Senator from Vermont, 1817-19. Died in Swanton, Franklin County, Vt., November 17, 1844 (age 81 years, 44 days). Interment at Church Street Cemetery, Swanton, Vt.
  Relatives: Grandfather of Parma West Stevens (who married David Olmsted (1822-1861)).

  Samuel Baldwin Olmstead (1810-1878) — also known as S. Baldwin Olmstead — of Iowa; Belle Prairie, Morrison County, Minn. Born in Otsego County, N.Y., 1810. Delegate to Iowa state constitutional convention from Dubuque, Delaware, Black Hawk and Fayette counties, 1844; member of Minnesota territorial House of Representatives 6th District, 1851; member Minnesota territorial council 5th District, 1854-55; President of the Minnesota Territorial Council, 1854. Died near Lampasas, Lampasas County, Tex., January 27, 1878 (age about 67 years). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Half-brother of David Olmsted (1822-1861).

  David Olmsted (1822-1861) — also known as David Olmstead — of Clayton County, Iowa; Belle Prairie, Morrison County, Minn.; St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minn. Born in Fairfax, Franklin County, Vt., May 5, 1822. Democrat. Newspaper work; delegate to Iowa state constitutional convention from Clayton County, 1846; mayor of St. Paul, Minn., 1854-55. Died in Fairfax, Franklin County, Vt., February 2, 1861 (age 38 years, 273 days). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Half-brother of Samuel Baldwin Olmstead (1810-1878); married to Parma West Stevens (granddaughter of James Fisk).
  Political family: Olmsted-Fisk-Stevens family of Vermont and Massachusetts.
  Olmsted County, Minn. is named for him.
