Delegate to Indiana state constitutional convention, 1850-51; member of Indiana state senate, 1853-55; served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Died in Rushville, Rush County, Ind., January 14, 1888 (age 84 years, 48 days). Burial location unknown.

Delegate to Republican National Convention from Indiana, 1856, 1868; member of Indiana state senate, 1861-63; served in the Union Army during the Civil War; Presidential Elector for Indiana, 1864, 1868; candidate for U.S. Representative from Indiana, 1874. Died in Connersville, Fayette County, Ind., December 11, 1888 (age 62 years, 365 days). Interment at City Cemetery, Connersville, Ind.
