U.S. Representative from Oklahoma, 1907-27 (4th District 1907-15, 3rd District 1915-27). Choctaw Indian ancestry. Died in Ardmore, Carter County, Okla., April 9, 1929 (age 60 years, 236 days). Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Wirt Franklin (1883-1962) — of Ardmore, Carter County, Okla. Born in Richmond, Ray County, Mo., March 22, 1883. Son of John H. Franklin and Irene (Hudgins) Franklin. Republican. Lawyer; oil producer; delegate to Republican National Convention from Oklahoma, 1932, 1936; candidate for U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, 1932. Presbyterian. Member, Freemasons; Knights Templar. Died September 24, 1962 (age 79 years, 186 days). Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Relatives: Son of John H. Franklin and Irene (Hudgins) Franklin; married, August 5, 1902, to Mary Cecile Collyer (divorced 1922); married, June 29, 1923, to Virginia Doss.
