Lawyer; Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney, 1880-82; member of Ohio state senate, 1890-92; Ohio state attorney general, 1892-96; U.S. Solicitor General, 1897-1903; Judge of U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, 1903-09. Died in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, March 1, 1909 (age 52 years, 351 days). Interment at Woodland Cemetery.

      Thomas Albert Jenkins (1880-1959) — also known as Thomas A. Jenkins — of Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio. Born in Jackson County, Ohio, October 28, 1880. Son of Samuel E. Jenkins and Ann (Harris) Jenkins. Republican. Lawyer; Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney; member of Ohio state senate, 1922; U.S. Representative from Ohio 10th District, 1925-59; delegate to Republican National Convention from Ohio, 1940, 1944. Died in 1959 (age about 78 years). Interment at Woodland Cemetery.

Died in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio, July 13, 1906 (age 77 years, 322 days). Interment at Woodland Cemetery.

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.  
      The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
