      Laban Theodore Moore (1829-1892) — also known as Laban T. Moore — of Louisa, Lawrence County, Ky. Born in Virginia, 1829. Lawyer; U.S. Representative from Kentucky 9th District, 1859-61; member of Kentucky state senate. Died, of pneumonia, at Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Ky., November 9, 1892 (age about 63 years). Interment at Ashland Cemetery.

      William Wirt Culbertson (1835-1911) — of Ashland, Boyd County, Ky. Born near Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pa., September 22, 1835. Republican. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; member of Kentucky state house of representatives, 1870; member of Kentucky state senate, 1873; delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1880, 1884; mayor of Ashland, Ky., 1882-83; U.S. Representative from Kentucky 9th District, 1883-85. Died in Oxford, Butler County, Ohio, October 31, 1911 (age 76 years, 39 days). Interment at Ashland Cemetery.

      Ronald B. Halleck (d. 1995) — of Ashland, Boyd County, Ky. Republican. Delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1968; member of Kentucky state house of representatives, 1968-72; Kentucky railroad commissioner, 1972-74; candidate for Kentucky state senate 25th District, 1975; candidate for Kentucky auditor of public accounts, 1983. Died October 23, 1995. Interment at Ashland Cemetery.
      George Philip Ellison (d. 1984) — also known as George P. Ellison — of Kentucky. Republican. Candidate for U.S. Representative from Kentucky at-large, 1932. Died April 11, 1984. Interment at Ashland Cemetery.
      Allan N. Cisco (1866-1955) — of West Liberty, Morgan County, Ky. Born in Morgan County, Ky., 1866. Republican. Delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1908. Died in Boyd County, Ky., September 27, 1955 (age about 89 years). Interment at Ashland Cemetery.
      John Thomas Diederich (d. 1974) — also known as John T. Diederich — of Ashland, Boyd County, Ky. Republican. Delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1948 (alternate), 1952, 1972 (alternate); Kentucky Republican state chair, 1955. Died September 10, 1974. Interment at Ashland Cemetery.

      John Milton Elliott (1820-1879) — of Kentucky. Born in Scott County, Va., May 20, 1820. Son of John Elliott and Jane Elliott. Democrat. Member of Kentucky state house of representatives, 1847, 1860-61; U.S. Representative from Kentucky 6th District, 1853-59; Delegate from Kentucky to the Confederate Provisional Congress, 1861-62; Representative from Kentucky in the Confederate Congress, 1862-65; circuit judge in Kentucky, 1868-74; Judge, Kentucky Court of Appeals, 1876-79; died in office 1879. Expelled from the Kentucky legislature in 1861 for supporting the Confederacy. Shot and killed by Col. Thomas Buford, in front of the ladies' entrance to the Capitol Hotel, in Frankfort, Franklin County, Ky., March 26, 1879 (age 58 years, 310 days). Interment at Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Ky.; statue at Boyd County Courthouse Grounds.
      Elliott County, Ky. is named for him.
      Epitaph: "Assassinated, for having done his duty as a Judge."

      George Brown Martin (1876-1945) — of Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Ky. Born in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Ky., August 18, 1876. Son of Alexander Lackey Martin and Nannie Frances (Brown) Martin. Democrat. Lawyer; general counsel and director, Big Sandy and Kentucky River Railway; director, Standard Elkhorn Coal Company; director, Clay Gunnell Shoe Company; Boyd County Judge, 1904; U.S. Senator from Kentucky, 1918-19; defeated, 1932; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Kentucky, 1928. Presbyterian. Member, American Bar Association; Delta Kappa Epsilon; Freemasons; Elks. Died in 1945 (age about 68 years). Interment at Catlettsburg Cemetery.

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.
