James Bennett Stone (1823-1895) — also known as James B. Stone — of Calhoun County, Fla. Born in Montgomery County, Ala., November 29, 1823. Son of David Cruger Stone and Lucinda (Evans) Stone. Farmer; sawmill owner; Calhoun County Sheriff, 1855-59; member of Florida state house of representatives, 1868-70, 1877; delegate to Florida state constitutional convention, 1885. He lost a leg in a sawmill accident. Died in Calhoun County, Fla., February 25, 1895 (age 71 years, 88 days). Interment at Old Shiloh Cemetery.

Relatives: Grandson of Henry Dessex Stone; son of David Cruger Stone and Lucinda (Evans) Stone; nephew of Lackland McIntosh Stone; first cousin of Lewis Maxwell Stone; married to Jincy Ann Yon (1828-1894); brother of Joseph Seaborn Stone; father of Terrell Higdon Stone. Born in Blountstown, Calhoun County, Fla., October 3, 1905. Son of Charles Ryan Warren and Grace (Fuller) Warren. Democrat. Lawyer; member of Florida state house of representatives, 1926-28, 1938-40; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Florida, 1928, 1956 (alternate); member Jacksonville city council, 1931-37; served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; Governor of Florida, 1949-53. Baptist. Member, American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Theta Chi; Elks. Died in Miami, Miami-Dade County, Fla., September 23, 1973 (age 67 years, 355 days). Interment at Nettle Ridge Cemetery.
